History

Serving You for 3 Generations

1952

In 1952, Dr. Louis DeFurio was ready to settle down and open his first dental practice. He enjoyed the community aspect of Racine, Wisconsin, and recognized the potential it could offer. Shortly after, Dr. Louis began breaking ground on the corner of Mitchell Street and Taylor Avenue. In a few short months, the red brick and stone building quickly emerged. The local community was excited to have a young dentist in their neighborhood, and his dental practice soon flourished.

In 1971, his son, Dr. Richard DeFurio, joined the practice immediately after graduating from Marquette University School of Dentistry. In the following years, the office became a local landmark, and the practice tripled in size to become known as “Southwest Dental Group”.

In 1999, Dr. Louis retired after practicing dentistry for 55 years. Dr. Steve Norovich joined the practice in his place. In 2010, following in the footsteps of his grandfather and father, Dr. David DeFurio joined Southwest Dental Group.

Present

Today, the dental practice is proud to announce that it has begun its early phases of remodeling to strengthen its concept of comprehensive, complete and quality dental care. This currently includes new patient operatories with cutting-edge dental technology. Such improvements are meant to bridge the gap of three generations without disrupting our founding ideals of trust and integrity.

Southwest Dental group has been dedicated to providing first-class dentistry to family, friends, and the community for nearly 65 years. We look forward to providing future dental care to our patients and are proud to be serving Racine in the family tradition for three generations!
